Emerald Racing Review

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers understand horse racing through its places, language, objects, traditions or history. Send proposals through the Contact page, not as finished articles unless requested.

What we are looking for

Strong proposals have a clear question, an identifiable reader and a focused explanation. Ideas might unpack a racing term, examine a feature of a racecourse, trace the changing role of an object or explain the background to a custom. We prefer evergreen subjects that remain useful beyond a particular meeting or result.

What to include

Tell us the working title, central idea, likely structure and why the subject suits Emerald Racing Review. Note the material you would use to support factual claims, any relevant expertise or perspective, and any possible conflicts of interest. A concise pitch is more helpful than an unsolicited full draft.

Editorial fit

We do not seek betting picks, unsupported claims about horses or owners, promotional copy disguised as reporting, or pieces that depend on claims you cannot substantiate. Commissioning is not guaranteed, and a proposal may be edited for clarity, accuracy and length.

How to send a pitch

Choose the editorial question option on the Contact page and include your proposal in the message. Please do not send confidential information or assume that a submission has been accepted until you receive a reply.
